Tudor Cottage is a beautiful 17th Century beamed cottage, located in the peaceful riverside hamlet of Barton. The house is traditionally furnished and offers a comfortable base from which to explore the region's many nearby attractions. Seasonal fishing available from the riverbank at the bottom of the garden!
Built in Shakespeare’s time, Tudor Cottage is one of the oldest houses in the hamlet and enjoys a Grade II listing. The cottage exudes old world charm, retaining its original timber beams and wattle and daub exterior, whilst its interior is homely with a surprisingly spacious lounge, kitchen/diner and downstairs shower room with toilet and basin.
Upstairs there are two spacious beamed bedrooms. The first is furnished with a double bed, whilst the second which interconnects, features twin divan beds.
A large private garden with seating lies to the front of the property, whilst the rear garden which is shared with the property’s owner, stretches down to the River Avon; where seasonal fishing is available from the riverbank (Please see the 'Other Info' tab for full details of the fishing facilities available at Tudor Cottage).
The ‘Cottage of Content’ pub serving real ale and home cooked food is a stone’s throw away from the property, whilst a pleasant half miles riverside walk takes you to nearby Bidford –on-Avon, which offers a further selection of pubs, restaurants and takeaways. The property is just seven miles from Stratford-upon-Avon and close to the Vale of Evesham, whilst the Cotswolds are just a short drive away. Tudor Cottage offers course fishing in the River Avon, from the foot of the garden, where there is a large paved landing stage.
The location could not be better for Avon fishing as the boats which navigate the river go through the loch on the far side, bypassing this stretch of water completely, and guaranteeing peaceful fishing for visitors.
It is also where some of the largest fish in the river hang back in the slow moving water above the only stone weir on the Avon, situated right at the end of Tudor Cottage's length of riverbank.
Regular visitors to the cottage return year-on-year for the large Barbel that frequent the river. Last season the largest caught topped the scales at 13 1/2 lb.
Chubb, Perch, Pike and Dace are amongst the other fish that are regularly caught.
